Evolutionary and survival of the fritter caused the seemingly contradicts-

At the time of Adam and Eve, Fat people just couldn’t outrun the lion and snake. The remainder died from age related causes. In the last few years. we have eliminated the lion and snake and fatter people have survived, skewing the the average.

I got another explanation, but this thesis and my other hypothesis belongs in the Alley.

So now it is OK to be “overweight”. For several years, I have been reading all this stuff about Methuselah-like lab animals thriving on extreme low-calorie diets.
It is maddening, I agree, barrons.

But it did maintain that overweight IS STILL considered a factor for heart disease, as well as breast, ovarian, uterine, and colon cancer, as well as others.

Links between health/longevity and diet/weight seem to be tenuous at best. Maintain a weight which permits you to lead an active and vigorous life, eat all variety of foods in moderation and you are on track to live a reasonably healthy life IMHO. I never switched from butter to margarine because I did not use a lot of butter and I figures stuff from the cow was better than stuff from the test tube.

While my weight did baloon a bit, it was because ol a lack of exercise not because of a horrible diet. In recent months I took to the streets again, am back up to running 4 miles with ease, taken off some weight and feel that I am back on track to a healthier life.
