Reason You Should Go To Cornell (Current Students Will Agree)

Jumbo Muffins.
End of story.
They’re everywhere. The dining halls and the cafes are overflowing with them. They’re huge. And they’re delicious! And they come in such great flavors as Peanut Butter and Jelly and Blueberry Cheese. And you can get a Jumbo Muffin Combo: medium coffee and Jumbo Muffin Of Your Choice for like $1.65.

Do HYPS have Jumbo Muffins ™? I think not!!

(^^if HYPS people get offended at the above I might cry)
(Sorry. I’m taking a 3 am Jumbo Muffin break from my p-set and am reflecting on its giant cranberry-y goodness)

do many people at cornell get high too? munchies perhaps?

lol, yea they’re awesome

Lol…cute thread!! I am not going to lie, I can’t wait to taste the food during Diversity Hosting Weekend- I can practically taste it right now.

the muffins are delicious and perhaps the best deal on campus.

get one and a coffee for 2 bucks. I’m not a huge breakfast eater so I’ve never actually finished a jumbo muffin - but I have saved one for the next morning’s commute only to spend $1.60 on another coffee.

Update: I seriously just walked out of Olin Cafe and saw a Butter Rum jumbo muffin. Is that appetizing or disgusting? Discuss.

And yes, I’m on CC on a computer in Olin library, muaha…I’m “working on a paper”.

I love this thread
All this talk of muffins made me want a muffin…so I got this lop-sided muffin from my school and it tasted like pure crap…no joke! I wish I was at Cornell…oh well next year!

MUFFFFINNNNNNNSSSSS!!! (from youtube - muffins and shoes, anyone?)

lol sorry, couldn’t resist.

To all you incoming freshman- when people talk about how great Cornell dining is they are referring to Robert Purcell, Appel Commons, Trillium, and maybe the Ivy Room. They are not talking about Okenshields so when you come to visit save yourself from Okenshields!

I actually like Okenshield’s, but not for the food (the food is just plain bad, though they DO serve Cornell Apple Cider, aka heaven in liquid form). More for the ridiculous 80’s disco dance music they blast at like 10 in the morning. And Dave the cardswiper, he’s hilarious.

I’m probably the only person here who actually likes the food at Okenshields.

i like okenshields … especially when they have like that marinated steak for dinner. Excellent!

okenshields has smoothies! and the bread is yummy, though I think I’m the only one who eats it.

i too like okenshield’s i find their general tso’s chicken on point

everyone who says they like okenshields… just stop talking.

the dining halls on west arent bad either

I haven’t been to Jansen’s in a while but that was my least favorite dining hall by far.

do they still have the “cross country gourmet” thing? man… that was awesome.

what about the “sea straight” sandwich at the short order grill at Oakenshields? i think i ate about 50 of those over my stay at Cornell.

Cross country gourmet is the week of the 22nd. I don’t know if theyve made the annoucement yet, but I’ve been trying to plan some events and are running into conflicts with it (don’t ask).

whats xc gourmet? food on the go? food for health nuts/athletes? sounds interesting…

xc gourmet is this thing where a chef from some fancy restaurant somewhere (they come from all over the country) comes in and caters to the entire cornell dining system. it does not cost extra if you are on the meal plan. you just eat as usual. one time we had lobster!!! one of the many benefits of having a top notch hotel school!
