Reasonable Adirondack Chairs

Notice I didn’t say cheap. :)

We are redoing some of our deck, patio and yard furniture for our pleasure as well as for our upcoming graduation party! We’ve purchased some great furniture/fire pit, etc. but as the $$$ are piling up, I still want to purchase 2 adirondack chairs. Lowes’ has 2 I love, but at $170 each, that is more than I want to spend. I’m hoping to find a compromise between the $10 plastic adirondack chairs and the Lowe’s $170 chairs. Would love some color if I could find it - or would be willing to paint.

I checked The Company Store - had found one reference to a 2 for $180 from 2009, but don’t see them there for this year…:frowning: But that type of price would be great!

For those of you who may have been out and about shopping for patio furniture, any memory of seeing decent chairs anywhere? I have checked our Lowes’ and Home Depot, Target online.

I had the same experience. So I went on a hunt using Craigslist and found quite a few! It was a ton of fun too.

Anywhere near the border? The past few years Canadiantire has had some really nice wood ones for about $30 each (we’ve used them about 2-3 years now, and they hold up well so far).

CanadianTire? Trying to think…we are about an hour-ish from Windsor and actually have a cottage on the Lake Huron coast…I can’t believe anything in Canada is cheaper though! Everything always seems to be MORE expensive!

I’ll look at Craigslist…

Harbor Freight, you put them together & paint, stain, I see they are backordered!

H always said he would build me some! We have 8 or 9 in different colors (Plastic) and when they die, we take to the dump! Also he says that the wooden ones to be comfortable have to have the curved back, not the straight one. I gave up on him actually building me Adirondack Chairs! Plastic is fine!

Do you have a Tuesday Morning near you? I just saw Adirondack chairs advertised on sale starting tomorrow for $99 each. White, Made of wood. Looked like good quality…

Toneranger, we might! There was one in a suburb very near - will have to check and see if it’s still there!

abasket…my flyer says the sale starts tomorrow at 8am (and the chairs retail for $250!)
Good luck! There is an online store locator.

I just looked - the flyer I looked at online shows the chairs as a “weekend special” starting Friday morning - I’ve never been to this store - do they really stick to these dates - the Tuesday and Weekend specials???

my experience is…yes…they stick to those dates. At least the store does around here. The popular stuff gets cleared out quickly.

I know Kohl’s had some last year for maybe $99 but that may have been a clearance price. They always have % off coupons if you have a charge there.

I could kick myself for not buying them at Kohl’s the last couple of years cause yes, they would be exactly what I want - but they don’t have them this year! :(

You’ll see sales on outdoor chairs after the 4th of July weekend (in the US, anyway). The best prices, of course, are in late August, but you shouldn’t have to wait that long.

Do you have Menard’s? (like Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.) I know they are in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin. I bought 3 last year for S’s graduation party. They are built cheaper than many of them, but the price was cheap too–$29.99 for unfinished; $39.99 for stained. They held up fine so far, and fold fairly flat to store for winter. They look much nicer than the plastic ones and we live in a windy area, so I need the weight of wood so they don’t blow away.

Yes, we do have Menards. I have never set foot in there though, but husband has many times. Are yours plain or stained (what like wood stain or colored stain? Flat back or slightly curved?

Try [Market Umbrellas, Adirondack Chairs, Adirondack Rockers, Screened Gazebos by Love My Patio by Love My Patio](http://www.lovemypatio.com) ! They are having a 50% off sale on Adirondacks, prices look great and many colors to choose from!

do you have a Cost Plus near you? http://www.worldmarket.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=4007412&fr=StorePrice/CPWM/00007501/00010000</a> In store they have blue, green & red chairs too. I only saw the yellow on line.

Yeah I know! It usually is. These chairs, if they still have them, are a steal (the quality relative to cost). They also fold though we find we never use that feature. But very solid, real wood.

Here is a link. And dang it, they are more now ($70) but I swear they used to be $30. Still a lot better than $170!:

costco has some patio sets of various styles

much bigger than what I need ( my seating area is fairly small) and they may have adirondack seating I dont remember, since none of their stuff worked for me.

I purchased Adirondack chairs from LL Bean 5-6 years ago. Although almost as expensive as the ones you originally looked at, I see from the website they are offering free shipping until May 25, which would be a good savings. They have held up very well, have little tables and cushions to match, and have more color options now than when I got mine!
