Reasonable Scores for Public U's, Honors Programs, etc.

Recognizing that the population of CC’ers (and their SAT scores) is skewed toward the top end, and more frequently headed to private universities… what do you think are reasonable SAT CR and Math scores to gain acceptance into the honors programs or academic scholarships at the flagship state U’s across the country? (Yes, obviously the GPA, awards/activities, etc. also matter, but I’m curious as to what people think about SAT scores…)

I’d say around 2000 on the SAT, 30 on ACT for honors - 1340 CR/Math

Well… 2100 I’d say for the more competitive scholarships and honors programs. Depends if its the University of Tennessee or University of California- Berkeley.

I’d go for 2100 to be safe but it really does matter from state to state like Gryffon5147 said.

Thanks…I was thinking 2100 also, but wanted some validation from others. D2 just got her June SAT scores, and we’re doing the happy dance. Math was her weakest area in the PSAT tests she took, (and will just miss the NMF cut-off for our state :frowning: ), but with some practice math tests (and last-minute tutoring from her math geek sister), she broke the 700 mark in math (710–whoo hoo!), for an overall 2180. I know nothing is a sure thing, but this is good.
