Despite receiving strong recommendations from my school, volunteering at the Cupertino library, and interning, I still didn’t get into any of the UCs. Are other students facing similar challenges?
The only UC that accepts LOR’s by invitation only is UC Berkeley (Freshman admissions). None of the other UC’s accept LOR’s at least for Freshman and Transfer admissions so what is your point?

As mentioned above, the UCs don’t accept letters of recommendation (except for UC Berkeley and that’s only by specific request to a small number of applicants). So I am confused: the title of your thread is have recommendation letters lost their impact, but then you reference the UCs which don’t even accept recommendation letters.
So it’s not that they’ve lost their impact, it’s that they don’t have any impact which is clear from the application and selection criteria.
Is that what you’re asking?
