I’ve been chosen personally to intern with/interned with several successful politicians in the Caribbean (one of whom is the current president of Haiti) and the United Nations. Would it be beneficial or detrimental to my application if I were to provide colleges with rec letters from one or more of these politicians?
It depends on the college. Many will specifically ask for 1-2 from only teachers or guidance counselors. In that case, don’t do it; all that does is show you don’t know how to follow directions.
Some colleges, however, only require 1 or 2, but give you the option of providing up to 2 or 3 supplementary rec letters. In that case, sure, let those references write one.
