rec problem

ok so i was going to apply to MITES/RSI this year, but i realized that my recs will not look very good, for the reason being that this is my junior year and i had the same (bad) science teacher this year AND last year who will not write a good rec for me.

however, MITES/RSI REQUIRES a science and math teacher’s recs, so i guess i will have no choice but to ask him. this means that i will get humiliated when i get rejected by his bad letter. my question is, is there anything else i can do about this situation? should i even bother troubling him with my recs?

Approach the science teacher by explaing your goal and ASKING if he/she feels he/she could write you a positive rec.

Forget the “humiliation” thing-- many apply for these programs, few are accepted. There is no humilation in not being one of those selected.

This is kinda similar, but how exactly does it work if we want to apply to multiple programs for next summer? Does the teacher have to write a different recommendation every single time? That may get rather arduous on their part.
