I was wondering if any other 2016 applicants got a “Yale Scientific” magazine in the mail today. It came along with a letter from the magazine’s editors saying:

“We hope you will choose to contribute to this unique blend in the years to come. We look forward to meeting you during Bulldog Days.”

Not quite sure whether this is an unfortunate choice of words, or some sort of a likely letter. I’d appreciate any thoughts or hearing from anyone else who got this today.

Bulldog Days is for admitted students - if they’re inviting you, you’re in. It’s weird that they would send you this without some other form of likely letter, though.

Yes, but it didn’t mention dates or anything
it was very general. Did you get one as well?

You should call Yale… sounds to me like you’ve been accepted but usually likely letters are worded in a way that make it very clear that you’ll eventually be admitted.

I got the scientific magazine months before applying, but I don’t remember that particular message. Sounds like things have turned out well for you, though!:)

So, I should be cautiously optimistic?

I find it to be realllly strange timing, especially considering it came in a “big envelope” with the “Yale Undergraduate Admissions” insignia.

Would anyone else suggest calling admissions? What should I ask?

See, mine didn’t come in an envelope or anything. This is a great sign, but you should call admissions before assuming anything.

So excited for you!!

Thanks for the advice! I think I’ll call admissions Monday

Universite, do you RD to Yale?

No, EA.

I got an email today apologizing and saying that the mailing was a mistake…

Maybe they usually send that after acceptance, so that’s why it “was a mistake”?
What was your intended major?

If you did EA, there’s no way that this is a likely letter…

Did you send any updates after Dec?

I got the same envelope. I applied EA and was deferred. Am I in???

I was accepted EA and got this same letter and magazine in the mail last Friday. So I don’t know what it means if you got this mailing if you were EA deferred–check with admissions…maybe it was meant to only go out to EA accepted students…(or maybe you will be accepted and it is supposed to go out to you after March 29th so that it is all official!!!–hopefully for you guys the latter case…Good Luck)

Just try to count how many DFs received this letter in cc?
