ARIAN MOAYED: 31 year old actor studied theater and IU; Made Broadway debut in Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo with Robin Williams. Off-Broadway & Regional: Masked (Drama Desk nomination), Fever Chart (Public Theater, dir Jo Bonney), Queens Blvd (Signature, dir Davis McCallum), American Pilot (MTC, dir Lynne Meadow), Kite Runner (national tour, dir Wynn Handman), Homebody/Kabul (BAM & Steppenwolf, dir Frank Galati), Jeff Daniels’ Apartment 3A (dir Valentina Fratti). Founded Water Well Theater co. in NYC, see Waterwell. His screenplay, This Island Made Me, starring Campbell Scott, is slated for production in Winter 2012.

REBECCA FAULKENBERRY (Sherrie) is from Bermuda and trained at Indiana University (USA) and the RSAMD (Scotland). Theatre credits include: Rock of Ages 2011 cast NYC; Aunt Dan and Lemon (The Royal Court), The Shape of Things (RADA), High School Musical 2 (original cast - Fox Theatre), High School Musical (original London cast Hammersmith Apollo), The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds), The Royal Family and The Mikado (Seaside Music Theatre), Smoke on the Mountain (Brown County Playhouse).

founded by Indiana U. theater grads Mr. Moayed and Tom Ridgely. This predates the BFA musical theater degree at Indiana, which is five or six years old. Waterwell has several musicals in the works with big thems; These guys have been out of school about 10 years and are seriously coming into their own today:

EJMusicman, the BFA in MT program at IU is relatively new and so there are not many graduates yet. I might be mistaken, but wouldn’t the first graduating class have been this year (or thereabouts)? If so, there is not much yet to go by with regard to your inquiry.

My recollection is that the first class to enter this new BFA in MT program was in fall of 2007, which means that the first class would have just graduated this past spring. In that case, it is too soon out of the gate to judge the prospective careers of these graduates.

Though there are no guarantees, graduates of the Department of Theatre and Drama have appeared on Broadway, national and international tours, regional theatres from coast to coast and around the world. For example, I already knew about and linked to bio of Nicole Parker, who among other things played Elphaba in the Broadway production Wicked as well as starred in MadTV; then there are also… Ben Livingston who played Harry Bright in the Broadway production of Mamma Mia; and Colin Donnell was Fiyero in the National tour of Wicked.

Oh! Thank you Susan! I did not know that. Regine, I was aware of most of those alums, but NONE of them graduated from the BFA MT program at IU.

I am almost positive that there was a graduating class last year. I am certain that there was a senior showcase…any info on those kids? What they are doing RIGHT out of college!!!

Thanks,
EJ

EJmusicman, while that is a legitimate question, I caution you to not put much stock in what graduates who graduated a few months are doing so far. It just is not a good indication of the careers they may have. Getting cast immediately following graduation is not so common and is not an indicator of how well the students may fare. My own kid (who went to a different school), did get cast the week of graduation, but there are many who were cast later who are doing well, and so on and so forth. The IU students would have had to move to some place like NYC, Chicago, LA or some such and by now have auditioned enough to be cast and while some may have been (I have no clue), I still think that it has only been a few months and just saying, it takes time and is an ongoing process (even if cast, it is a short term job). It would be better to ascertain what graduates over the past five years have accomplished, though I realize that is not possible with THIS program.

Maybe someone here knows what the graduating class has been up to but again, I would not weigh that too much given the timing.

Oh no, I TOTALLY understand! I was just wondering if anyone can comment on what they may be up to…and where they are headed…(Home, NY, LA, Chicago, Bloomington…)

:-) EJ

I do understand! :)
