If I may join the chorus …
cc is an organic community. I have no problem with the subforum (though it did seem like an overreaction to criticism by one former poster who admitted he/she hadn’t posted in years; I mean, you’d think cc would be more responsive to its current, regular clientele rather than a fair-weather fan). But the rigidity of the thread name change doesn’t reflect the spirit of the cc that I’ve come to know and love.
A recent change that flopped was the green boxes. The Powers That Be recognized that the change didn’t add to the community and, in fact, detracted from the cc spirit. I hope a reversal will occur in this matter as well. As my 2014 and Beyond brethren have stated, the Beyond has meaning – meaning that I think cc would embrace – and others recognize that. If you don’t follow that thread regularly, you wouldn’t know that we have regular posters from other years – I assume because they embrace the inclusiveness of our little group. Yes, we have a private FB group, too, but many of us have stayed with cc because we share a sense of “giving back” to the community that helped us. Many of us post in “our” thread, but we try to help others in other threads as well. The “one size fits all” renaming of threads is counter to the “take all comers” attitude that I, for one, have appreciated about the forum.
Lastly, I agree with those who say the new naming convention is more confusing, not less. I find it more difficult to find “my” threads in the subforum than I ever did on the main Parents page.
