Recently bought house not reported - strange situation

Basically -

I did my CSS profile early and submitted before November 1st of 2012. (as an early applicant)

We had around 60k in our checking accounts back then, and I put down how much we had “on the day of the submission.”

Mid-November, we bought a house and made a down payment of about 50k and bought the house, having about 170k in mortgage.

Now, I have to submit 1040 and W2 for IDOC packet soon, and the problem is that we have to put down the house information (mortgage and such) on the 1040.

I know assets information should not change and be remained as the day of submission, but I am afraid that when they compare my Profile and 1040, they will find the above information contradictory.

I am sorry if this post has been discussed before, Please help!

Contact the financial aid offices of the schools who need the IDOC packet, and ask them how they want your to proceed. They know that assets don’t stay the same - if you had to submit the CSS by their deadline, you had no option of waiting until the purchase was completed. Plenty of people buy homes in November and December.

If they look at your tax return and notice you’re claiming deductions for a house that wasn’t listed on your CSS profile, they’re also likely to notice the very things that will tell them it is a new home purchase. But if you contact them, they can tell you what additional information they might need.
