Recipe Cards

We had the idea of asking people coming to a wedding shower for my soon to be daughter in law to bring a recipe they like. She has never lived on her own and neither of them cook. I think they need this more than anything else. So I was going to mail a card with the invitation. Anybody know where I can go to find the best assortment of recipe cards? I do own some blank ones, but I want something really cute and newer than the ones in my drawer.

I can’t help you with where to get cute recipe cards, but I think this is a lovely idea.

I did this very thing for my younger sister’s shower.
The Hallmark store had recipe file boxes with matching recipe cards, and additional packages of the cards.
I asked those who would be unable to attend to mail the card to me.

This is a great idea. If it’s a kitchen shower, it would be easy to do a gift basket with the necessary pan and utensils along with the recipe.

I still have the pottery deep dish pie plate and recipe I received over 25 years ago from a dear friend.

Go to the Knot…they have lots of great stuff, that you never see anywhere else, and tons of links. I did that for my in-laws for their 50th…Just as young ones don’t know how to cook, as you get older, you change your eating habits, and you always have the one recipe that no matter where you go people ask for it.

On that note, even though it wasn’t asked for here is a recipe for her when she has her first dinner party!

Bacon Cheese Dip

1 loaf Italian Bread (oblong or round)
8 slices of bacon , chopped coarsely
1 garlic clove (or tsp of minced garlic)
1 sm. onion --chopped coarsely
1 bag colby jack shredded cheese
1 c. mayo
1 c. fresh grated parm

Saute onion, bacon and garlic. DO NOT BURN. Saute until onions or soft and bacon is on the crisp, but yet still tender side. Drain fat
Combine remaining ingredients.

Hollow out the loaf of bread(res. pieces), make sure when you cut the top, that you do so in 1 piece. Place ingredients in. Place the top back on and wrap in foil.
Bake at 400 for @25 min.
Serve hot
Use the bread pieces for dipping!
Can be made in the am (DO NOT COOK) and refridgerate until the evening.

There are a couple on this website:

I want that Cranes’ recipe book for myself, and I want helpful fairies to come some night and put all my scribbled, torn and otherwise shameful mess of recipes on the cards!

The bacon dip sounds great.

Thanks so much everyone. Especially for the recipe. I’ll write that one down and add it to her gift from CC!!
