Notice I’m being VERY careful to not say “empty nest” - I LOATHE that term!
This is a take off on an idea in the “empty nest” thread. It has to do with how to adjust and find personal happiness or maybe even re-invent yourself once there are no kids left at home to nurture. (and I know, kids still need nurturing when they go off to college, but we’re talking about your home environment).
My youngest will leave for college fall 2015. I’m personally not worried about my time and adjustment. I work, have hobbies, stay active, keep in touch with my 3 kids almost daily, have family not too far away, etc.
But this is not the case for many. And even if you have a busy schedule, kids leaving does leave a new pocket of time or energy.
Someone mentioned this idea as key factors to readjusting to having a kid-less house :
COMMUNITY STRUCTURE MEANING
Think about those three words. It really makes a lot of sense (to me) to have these three elements in life/daily routines.
What are your thoughts about these three elements? Are they present in your life with or without kids at home? Do you do one better than another? What are you missing? Do you agree or disagree that these three elements are “key” to personal satisfaction?
There is no one perfect recipe. But the ingredients above IMO are really good food for thought.
