I was just wondering what [grades wise] would translate into reclined admissions to Stanford?

It’s a terrible thing to think about, but does anybody know of anybody who went through this?

(I’m just wondering what you would do… if they recline you for your last senior semester… then you are pretty much not going to college… OUCH!.. how do you work that out).

If you have almost straight A’s all your HS career and get some B’s?.. I know that doesnt mean reclined admissions… but what about a C?

multiple Cs (3-4+) or a D/F.

Wow really… if that is true… that is kind of reassuring.

theonekid, I honestly don’t think anyone knows this answer. I mean how many people know someone who actually had their admission rescinded to a school like Stanford? You would probably have to talk to an admissions officer to get a definitive answer. However, I think multiple Cs or suddenly all B-s would put you in jeopardy.

I was just wondering if anybody had any stories…

And I’m still wondering what people do when their admissions is reclined from any school…

Would you go to another school that accepted you and say… “Yeah… my admissions to Stanford was reclined, will you take me?”

theonekid, admission can be “rescinded” or it can be “declined.” Admission can never be “reclined” however.

recline: lean or lie back in a relaxed position with the back supported
rescind: revoke, cancel, or repeal (a law, order, or agreement)

Update: damn… IJustWantToKnow beat me to it.

Au contraire my good fellows, the admissions letter can easily be reclined and makes a nice chair for your hand.

vicissitudes, bravo

Oh wow… man I’ve been doing this all day? hahahaha

Yup, I’ve even “verbalized” some nouns today…

I’m just going to stop now…

aha dont worry theonekid, it happens to the best of us

I received three B’s my second semester after maintaining straight A’s for several semesters before it. Not a word from Stanford.

It’s possible I’m getting a C in stats…and A’s in everything else. I just can’t bring myself to do the homework…it’s so tedious and I don’t even get AP credit in the end.
Should I be concerned?

No. You’ll be fine. You may get a letter but they definitely won’t rescind you as it’s a fluke.

Well, this may not be a standard, but I knew someone who got 2 B’s second semester as a senior…Stanford sent him a letter asking the student to explain the drop in his grades (he had straight A’s for his whole high school career). Luckily, he wasn’t rescinded.

luckily in order to maintain my ‘academic standards’ i can get a couple of Bs. getting all As throughout high school makes Bs seem like a bigger deal. sucks.
