Recognize 2012

Be nice Sea Scout. Your parents hopefully supported you when you were young.

Let’s also recognize that while I understand the class as a whole is recognized there are individuals that are working very hard both individually and trying to motivate the class as a whole. It is very frustrating for them as individuals and they deserve some support…

Classes 2011, 2010, 2009 come on let’s get these plebes pumped and recognized so life can go on…

Honestly, Sea Scout, we don’t expect that our posts here would have any impact on the actual process. Nor do we think that we should have any input or influence. It is entirely up to 2012 and 2009 to make this happen. And, yes, I do believe some of the responsibility belongs to 2009.

Whoa Cool, I’m going to assume that you aren’t serious when you imply that some parents posting supportive messages on a public forum are compromising 2012’s chances of recognition. Surely 2009 have better things to do than penalize plebes for this thread.

If you look at the thread for 2011’s recognition, many of the comments are the same, complete with threats of recognition in June and them having to square until graduation. It will happen when it happens. Meanwhile, we parents will have a bit of fun supporting our plebes.

hecks ya! this is all fun people…next year it will be the same thing   :D

I mean after all, 2012 can’t help it if they are the worst plebes…well…at least 2011 couldn’t help it either…nor will 2013, if you guys catch my drift! Lighten up ya’ll and have some fun.

Hey Suzanne maybe we can get some pics of plebes doing their last spirit mission this week by shoveling snow…at least they say we are getting show here by the end of the week.

Nice cold day for recgonization…this week!!!

Yeah for 2012!!!

WhoaCool: I have not heard any stories recently (so, thanks for sharing). However, earlier reports were that 2012 felt more ‘entitled’ and demonstrated less respect than acceptable.
SupportMom: I’m absolutely certain that MANY of 2012 are doing great, and that SOME of 2012 need more attention. Up to 2012 peers to self-correct. They are just making it harder on ALL of them.
Snappler: I wore out keys as well, F5=refresh, during the indoc photo postings. know what you mean… That Ctrl+V (paste) option is a winner!
LFWB::: MUHAHAHAHAHA! dang. Now I have to go clean cola off my screen and keyboard, since I laughed out loud at your comments…mid sip ! (and , I AM assuming you mean THEIR licensing exams…)… Ohhh, you bad ;)… Hilarious, but bad   ;)

All in good fun, but hope 2012 gets their act together soon. If it’s dragged out later, it can start to interfere with Midterms/Finals/other things.

Well let’s see finals for 2009 start the week of 18 May and licensing exams start first week of june. Final’s for rest of KP start 2nd week of june which would leave no free days for 2012 recognition. Oh well :(

Recognize 2013 :D

Oh no, I of course, am not implying that. This is simply a public form - great and informational. I am alluding to the story that plebe told me in which he said that some of the plebes were getting their family and friends to email upperclassmen encouraging them to recognize Class of 2012. How big of an impact that is having or how many plebes are doing that, I don’t know. It’s just angering 2009.

To quote “Remember the Titans”, “Attitude reflects leadership”

The class of 2012 has now had 4 RTOA’s in charge of them (next years has taken over already)
Not to name names… but here is the breakdown of the failure in leadership

RTOA#1- under this “leader” the class passed 2 pkt’s and only got a handful of spirit missions done. most of her time was spent doing changing parties at 0600 until one plebe got hit in the face with a rifle and broke his nose and then those stopped… the class had very little respect for her and was not afraid messing up at all

RTOA#2-Class of 2012 was able to pass pkts(even did 2 in one weekend), plebes were very motivated, all respected and followed him, him and the rto made sure there was fair consequences for the class messing up, during his tenure many upperclassman commented on how the plebes were making progress, unfortunately he got into some trouble

RTOA#3- Rarely did anything with the class, during a recent inspection, the RX asked the plebes who the RTOA is, and a significant amount of plebes didn’t know his name. His Petty officers gave most of the pkt’s and he never organized or pushed the class to organize any spirit missions… Class failed the coast guard hymn and the drill card as both were poorly organized….class was given pkt’s 8 and 9…

RTOA#4- 2/c Next year’s RTOA, just took over, but so far hasn’t don’t much, just a really loud guy who continues to tell the class that they are basically never going to get recognized, hopefully he will learn some good leadership from finishing out this year with the plebes and getting them motivated so that he can be successful as rtoa next year

whynot?? - I’m surprised you care so much as to criticize 4 different people, whom you’ve probably never met, on a public forum.

Cmon people, let’s not forget…it’s the Class of 2012 that dictates when they get recognized. 2012 completes the recognition steps, 2012 takes the PKTs…

Stop *****ing and moaning…if you’re going to say anything tell 2012 to go out there and get the job done themselves. I may be as young as some plebes, but if my one year at sea taught me anything, it taught me I have to be responsible for myself.

I think we all understand what is going on and as parents, it can be frustrating to watch. Some venting is okay. But let’s keep it light - no need to go placing blame. If 2012 wants it bad enough, they will get recognized. If not, life goes on. Sure, I want it for my son, but not to the point where I am going to try to get it for him. They have to deserve it, and he is the first to admit they haven’t come together as a class yet. But they have made progress, and we can just keep on supporting them by being there for them.
I, for one, am very grateful for the people who are willing to share their wisdom here on the forum. I am getting a gradual understanding of the inner workings of the academy, and it helps to know other parents have been through all this before me. For your humor, advice, and experience, I thank you!
Recognize 2012! :)

I agree with you,usmma2012mom, let’s all relax and be nice to each other, This is my last post on this thread.

Good Friday tomorrow - Maybe???
Recognize 2012!

its not happening this week i personally talked to the RTO. The admiral is away on some business and it cannot happen while the admiral is not their because of liability. it was supposed to happen last week but we failed the coast guard hymn and the drill card. It MIGHT happen next week ive heard the 23rd but if there is one thing i have learned about recognition, it is not a set date nor do you listen to rumors about it.

Bump!!! Perhaps today???

Bumpiety, Bump, Bump

The plebes were due to be recognized this afternoon at reg period, however…the RADM looked over the mud pit (which was made by 09) and decided that there are two many rocks and other debris in it…recognition is canceled for today… Try again another day! ;)

Well dang, get the plebes to clean out the mud pit :D

Sorry, I have to bump this again.
Recognize 2012!

So it sounds like the plebes have done everything to be recognized. I guess it is now up to the leadership of the upperclass to get it done.

Now with that said, I would think with the memorial on Wednesday now is not the time to celebrate.

I would think out of respect they will put it off at least until the weekend.
