[recommend] Boarding High school

Hi

Could you guyz recommend good boarding school?

My nephew wants to go to boarding school. but I have no idea about that.

I heard of some schools in MI, NH, and CT. Please help me

Thanks~

Didn’t you post this in GoHackers also? lol
Small world.

cmonyo81, since this is a college forum im going to suggest something different than your regular boarding school, look at Simon’s Rock College Of Bard in Great Barrington, MA, with what you are paying for boarding school anyways going to a good college early is a good option, you basically can go there for 2 years and then transfer to a better college.

Tabor Academy, Phillips Exeter, Milton Academy, all good choices in MA. Proctor is good in NH.

You might have better luck finding information out if you repost this on the Prep School Board.

I agree with Phillips Exeter- one of the best

Add Choate Rosemary Hall on there. Good for CT.

Exeter or andover are both some of the best. But really there are a lot of great schools

There are lots of boarding schools and are all very different and have different qualifications needed to get in. We can help you more if we get a better idea of what kind of school your nephew is looking for in terms of things like academic rigor, size, what sports or activities is he interested in, is a formal dress code a big deal or would he rather have an informal, saturday classes or no saturday classes, religious or not religious, etc…

hj0519 has a good reply for you. It would also be good to know if you are looking for this fall and if your nephew would be a full-pay (understanding that bs usually costs in the neighborhood of $40,000 – $45,000) or would also be applying for financial aid.

I would strongly suggest that pass along information on this forum to your nephew – he can learn all about Boarding School by reading past posts.

double post – sorry

I would say for NH the best schools are St. Paul’s school and Exeter. If you’re looking for top schools

exeter, andover, groton, deerfield, st. paul’s, choate, milton, lawrenceville…
those are just a few.
those are actually the more prestigious schools (there are more, i just don’t feel like typing them out).

Berkshire School.

(Sorry to all of you who put up with my Berkshire-Obsession, I LOVE that school. :] )

Go to [Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com) and you can read up on all the boarding schools. Good comparative tool as well. There are many good schools out there, not just the “top ones” you see mentioned often on these threads

haha…i lov berkshire too…going there next year…haha…i mean this upcoming semester!!!ncie to meet ya???..r u already attending the school???

Hotchkiss, Andover, Deerfield, Exeter, St. Paul’s, Lawrenceville, Peddie, Choate, Groton, Concord, etc :]

Apply to a couple on the first list, then some on the second list, just to be safe.

You HAVE to look into Andover. While I understand everyone “fits” a different school, this place is truly amazing. It’s one of the top and still remains fun.
