Recommend colleges for me

There are some schools that either don’t look at freshman GPA or focus on the trend but most are super reachy and the others are far away

Maybe Michigan State or a CSU school if willing to travel but you should seriously consider staying closer to home if you think you will need a support group to transition into college.

Interesting that Emory was not included in that article.

Agree. It’s mentioned on other sites

That opens the doors to many colleges at least in terms of cost.

Your upward trend in grades will be helpful for college admissions, along with a letter from your school counselor.

HOWEVER, mental health issues need to be gently handled when you apply to college. Ask you school counselor how they can mention your upward trend without disclosing specific medical issues.

Not sure if reaches or what…but University of Delaware, University of Vermont, possibly Rutgers.

Adding Guilford college in North Carolina to the collective brainstorming. There was a great profile on the “Your college bound kid” podcast. It seems liberal polically with a kind and gentle atmosphere.

It and I believe Earlham are Quaker - or at least have those roots, etc.

One school you may want to consider is St. Joseph’s (St. Joe’s) in Philadelphia. It’s a mid-sized Jesuit school that really emphasizes social justice on its mission page. It also has a well-known program for ASD in terms of supporting students with it but also in training future educators and professionals who work with individuals with ASD.

Depending on what your unweighted GPA from the last 3 years looks like, it would probably be a match or a reach.

A highly likely admit you may want to consider is Georgia State in Atlanta. It has robust foreign language options, including Korean and German, among others. It’s also part of a consortium where you could take classes at other area schools like Agnes Scott, Spelman or Morehouse, Georgia Tech or Emory. I believe it is shifting from a commuter school rep to more of a residential school, but perhaps @DramaMama2021 might have more insight. Here is its page on services for students: https://access.gsu.edu/.

I think that GPA is too low for Rutgers, and they seem to love a test score.
