What safety or semi-safety schools should I apply for?

Hispanic and on the poor side

I think anything below top 25 or so will be a safety for you. Hispanic ethnicity will help you. Good luck!

Since many Hispanic kids have strong stats, I wouldn’t say that anything below the Top 25 is a “safety” for this student.

Besides, this student has strong financial need, so a safety has to be affordable as well…and many schools below the Top 25 do not meet need.

What is your likely major?

What is your state?

Do you have a non-custodial parent (some schools that give great aid will want your NCP’s financial info).

I will likely major in engineering and I live in Nevada. The top school here is UNR, which is cheap, but I was hoping for other choices too.

A school may be “cheap” but unless you’re certain that all costs are covered, it’s not a safety.

Will you have to live on campus? Does UN-R “meet need”? If not, then it may not be a safety for you.

It sounds like your family can pay little or nothing, is that right?

Are you a NMSF? Or a National Hispanic student?
