Recommend schools to apply to with my stats?

It’s mostly because of my bad grades that I feel limited with my choices. I had at least three C grades (never been this bad before) in my junior year for both semesters, as an IB Diploma candidate. I used to have As and Bs throughout freshman and sophomore year, but this past year was terrible. My cumulative GPA after the first semester junior year was already 3.55 unweighted and it got worse after second semester grades (haven’t calculated the exact GPA yet). The worst part is that I’m planning on going into science but my math/science grades were the worst grades.

I’m thinking of applying to my state’s flagship university as my top choice which has a ~50% acceptance rate, as well as other state public schools which have even higher acceptance rates (up to the 80% range).

I think the only thing I’ve got going for me is (possibly) my SAT score if I do well on it this fall and my extracurriculars. Last December as a junior I got a score of 1890 (let’s just assume that this is my score for now even though I’m sure that I’ll do better this fall). Teacher recs should be no problem if all goes as planned. Anyway, I want some recommendations based on my stats for which schools would accept me. By the way, I am an Asian girl (which does not help my case at all sobs). Thanks in advance.

SAT I score: 1890 (for now, will retake)
SAT II score: Biology E/M, Math 2 (will take this fall)
GPA (unweighted): 3.55>

  • science olympiad – qualified for the state competition as a first year team, won Best New Team award for regional competition

  • high school volunteer/charity group (2012-2013) – prepped bags of food for needy families, children, etc.
  • volunteer chamber group (2013-2014) – played chamber music at retirement homes, played at benefit concerts
  • charity house (2014-now) – this place houses families of terminally ill children

I’m planning on entering other competitions this year so hopefully I win more awards :3

By the way, I’m mostly looking for public schools, but private is okay too. Location does not matter for now. I plan on going into music and science (probably music minor, science major) and will likely audition for the school’s orchestra.

Last question: should I get rid of the activities that I only did for a year? Or include everything?
