Going on a family cruise this summer leaving from Seattle. We will be arriving the night before the cruise which happens to be our anniversary. We have lots of hotel points to use, so are thinking of staying intown near the Pike St Market. Looking at the Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Olive8 or Hilton (Have to see what combined SPG/Marriott points we have, but have enough for the Hyatt and Hilton. Recommendations and ideas for breakfast and quick walk in the morning?
** Edit-- can also consider the W or the Westin downtown. Have enough points for those too
Do you want to splurge a little and stay at the Edgewater?
If you want to be closer to the Market, I would not recommend the Olive 8. It is kind of on the outer edge, and there is some construction nearby, too. The Westin is next to the flagship Nordstrom and maybe a couple of blocks from the market. I wonder if the Dahlia Lounge serves breakfast? The Grand Hyatt would be OK for your purposes, too.
Thanks! Any idea when the construction might finish? I am leaning towards the Grand Hyatt, but sis in law would prefer, if we stay at the same hotel, to be at the less expensive one (she is paying for hers, I am using points). The edgewater did not show availability for using points on the date I need. I’d already checked that!
The construction in that area is never ending! It should not affect you though if it is for just one night. There is no night work. The only issue is that the 8 is not as conveniently located as the others - it adds about 3-4 blocks of walking to the fun stuff.
As far as dinner goes, I would get out of downtown and try something with the view of the downtown. Palisade is one such option… Any preferences for food?
It’s not as close as the Westin but you could use your Hilton points at the Homewood Suites Seattle Convention Center Pike Street. They also have free full breakfast and complimentary happy hour during the week. Our room also had a gas fireplace which was unexpected but nice. We also walked to Pike Pl Market a couple of times.
We have stayed at the Hyatt Olive 8 a number of times (mainly for the nice pool for G’son).
We really like it and have never been bothered by the construction. It is 1/2 block to the library
which is a “must see” and do go into the building and go to the top floor and work your way down.
We walk all over and do not find Pike’s Market far at all.
Thanks for the suggestions. We did decide to use the pints and pick the Grand Hyatt, but a relative will be at the Olive 8 Any dinner reccs nearby? I got a recommendation for a sushi restaurant that is said to be better than the one in the hotel (no surprise there). There is a Ruths Chris at the hotel but we’d prefer something local. (and close by). Thanks!
Loved the Seattle Marriott Waterfront. There’s a great Indian restaurant just a block away. Plenty of good nearby. Right near/next to the Ferris wheel and Pike’s Place.
