Recommendation Letter Question

I had to ask my counselor the other day to fax a copy of his recommendation letter for me to Stanford because they supposedly never received the original. Well, he just informed me that he faxed it. Then, out of curiosity, I asked him if it was printed on my school’s official letterhead, thinking that the answer would be an obvious yes. He replied no. Do you think it would be too much if I asked my counselor to fax the letter again–this time, on my current school’s letterhead? Am I being paranoid? Will Stanford not even care? I’m just worried that the admissions officers might question the legitimacy of a letter on plain white paper… Thanks for your thoughts!

Of course you’re not being paranoid. Just explain to him that you’re worried that Stanford might question the legitimacy of the letter since it’s not on school letterhead. Also, make sure you thank him and tell him how much you appreciate his rec and that you’re sorry for the inconvenience, blah, blah, blah.

I had to fax a rec as well. My prof mailed it but somehow stanford never got it.

I wouldnt worry about the letterhead. Stanford wont question the legitimacy of the rec, im sure many send it on plain paper. Its not like they will mark you down because they suspect you, if they have any question they will be able to investigate and straighten it out in about a min. I think its kind of rediculious to ask him to resubmit it.

btw, I havent seen you on here before and I am curious what year you are and where from. Im a sophomore transfer from cmu.

I don’t think they would question it, but even if they did, the fax number will appear on the top of each fax sheet, so if they have any issues, I’m sure they could check them out that way. :)
