Recommendations for a Costo TV

Going to be heading to Costco to purchase a TV for S’s dorm room - something not too small, not too big - probably 22-28 inches (?).

Anyone buy one recently you have been happy with? Or have one we should avoid?

(don’t need to talk me out of buying one! Watching some ESPN after S’s busy schedule is his down time for him and I’m all for it - and not going the computer tv tuner route)

I don’t have a specific recommendation, but if it were me, I’d just head to Costco and see which ones look best…I believe they’re all usually turned on there. They have a much more limited selection than say, Best Buy, so you probably only have a few to decide amongst in any given size. So that should make it easier! I have a small Zenith flat screen that I got for free when I signed up for Verizon FIOS a couple of years ago - I didn’t even know that Zenith was still in existence! But it’s actually a pretty good little TV (I think it’s 20").
Great to get it at Costco, though - they double the manufacturer’s warranty (pay for it with an Amex card and they extend it even more.)
Good luck!

We have a 22" Vizio that we got at Costco a couple of years ago. We selected it because it was the best deal for a small tv and have been very happy with it.

We bought a Hannspree 25" LCD there for S2 for his dorm – great deal for only $200. It is a very nice tv that is doubling as his computer monitor.

I had read some good reviews on the Hannspree brand on Costco online…but am always leary when I have never heard of the brand!

Hard to go wrong with Vizio…prices have come down so much that what we paid 3 years ago for a 27/28 inch for DD will now buy a 34 inch…and Costco has two year warranty on electronics which is great!

I have a Vizio 26" LED LCD recently purchased from Costco. Great viewing angles, nice and bright colors, and it doubles as an additional monitor for me when I need more desktop space to work on projects. Price was about $350 I think? Not bad at all for an LED.

I highly recommend any tv that is LED. They are usually a little more expensive, but they are much better than a typical LCD (angle, color, weight, size (width), and life are all typically better). Vizio is an awesome brand as is LG and Samsung. I’ve seen good reviews for Sony as well, but I have personal experience with the former three brands mentioned. Samsung charges a lot more for their LED line, though, than Vizio.

Son bought a Vizio at Costco about 2 years ago and has been very pleased with it.
He uses it for TV and Playstation games. Paid about $400 for it, 28 inch; much cheaper now.

Costco doubles warranty on TVs, priceless.
I’d recommend just heading into store and seeing which picture looks best to you.

Ditto on orchid_2010. S has the same tv and it doubles as a great monitor for CAD. Great value.

Another vote for Vizio. Got a 22" for S while away at school. Works great, nice picture, low price. Very good value for the money.

If you have a Costco Amex card, that apparently extends the warranty another year, for a total of 3.

H. has been buying them on-line. D. just took another one back to school. It was about size that you mentioned, for about $200. D. liked it.

Samsung 23" which frequently comes with a discount coupon, but costco is now offering free shipping. I know the Visio team personally, and cannot recommend the $$, particularly for the LED. The picture quality is just not the same (compare vs. Samsung LED), nor is their QA. OTOH, if its only for a couple of years and considered a throw-away after that…
