Recommendations for efile service?

Which programs/companies have you used and liked?

I pay for the premium version of Tax Cut because it includes Schedule C (self employment income) and Rent/Royalty income, plus includes a state return and efiling.

It’s OK. I usually enter everything online (free), but then pay to have the ability to print and efile.

I had been using Turbo Tax, but then switched.

Warning: THE MOST CONFUSING thing about last year’s taxes were the college-related stuff. I entered all the forms we got regarding scholarships, qualified expenses, and 529 distributions. I have no idea what happened, but the program popped up a question that asked, “Do you want to deduct $2900 from income or do you want to deduct $4000 from income?” I chose the $4000, got a better refund, and STILL don’t understand what that was all about.

Was there something you didn’t like about Turbo Tax?

I need Schedule C, so, Turbo Tax with schedule C (online) is $74.95, which includes e-filing, BUT does not include the state return, which is another $25.95, so over $100 for Turbo Tax.

But Tax Cut is $39.95 for all of the above, a 60% savings.

I actually liked the navigation and explanations of Turbo Tax just a bit more, but not $60 more.
