Recommendations for Scholarships

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some good scholarships to apply to (essay scholarships are welcome!). I’ve looked through fastweb and some other sites, but they can be a bit… overwhelming. As in, a lot of Burger King scholarships, Taco Bell scholarships (Live Mas!), state-specific scholarships, etc. I’ve applied to a lot of no-essay scholarships, but those always seem to direct me to another website where I have to enter my email yet again…
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Really, the best scholarships are the ones awarded by the colleges to which you are accepted.

You might also want to talk to your school counselor to ask about local scholarships.

Just keep in mind that most of these outside scholarships are for one year only. Also if you have receive need based aid from a college, your need based aid might be reduced if you get an outside award…which you are required to report to the college(s).

I’ve already been awarded some scholarships by the college I’ve applied to, but wanted to ease the financial burden further.
Didn’t realize that I could reduce the amount of financial aid I could get, though! Thank you so much for your help!!

You need to contact your colleges. Some DO allow stacking of scholarships up to the cost of attendance.

Some will reduce your need based aid…because if you get an outside scholarship…your need goes down.

The Mensa Foundation offers a scholarship, and you don’t have to be a Mensa member to apply. The scholarship is based on a 550 word essay. The deadline is January 15th.
