<p>Hey guys, so I’m getting ready to apply to colleges next fall, and my guidance counselor recommended the required 2 formal recommendations to send in with my apps. So, I have all my recs (formal and informal), but I’m stuck between two teachers to do one formal (and the other informal). I initially asked a business teacher who I’ve had three times freshman and sophomore year, who I’ve heard writes AMAZING recommendations. We have a good relationship, however it’s been said that colleges prefer two JUNIOR year teachers to write both formals. My junior year AP Economics teacher is another teacher I’ve liked, yet I’ve only had this sole class with him, so I’m not as close to him. However, he would also write a very solid recommendation, but if I don’t choose him for a formal, he can write an informal. Which of these two teachers do I choose?</p>
<p>I would go with your business teacher. The college will really want to get to know you through these rec letters and if the teacher doesn’t know you well, it defeats the purpose. It seems that you have a wonderful bond with your business teacher so I would definitely choose him.</p>
