<p>Do you guys usually buy the recommended books for a course? Some of my courses have non-required books listed close to $100 each. </p>
<p>I bought an expensive recommended text for my Arabic summer class (an Arabic dictionary), but I knew that if I wanted to continue with the language I would eventually need to buy one. I can’t tell how useful many of my recommended books for the Fall will be, though.</p>
<p>i wait until the first day of the class when the prof will tell you what you actually need.
freshman year i was so excited to get my books (yeah, i’m a loser) that i bought them all ahead of time and had them shipped to my house. then i ended up returning quite a few since they weren’t actually necessary.</p>
