Recommended Europe tour companies?

Hi all,

Looks like I'll be treating my daughter and mother to a trip to England and France this summer for daughter's graduation gift. Mother has traveled before with Tauck Tours, which she's been very happy with, but 5-star accommodations aren't really necessary and the dripping with money aspect would likely irritate D (and Grandma doesn't mind taking it down a notch :-). Daughter and her school have traveled to Europe previously with EF Tours, which offers marginal accommodations, has been known to forget to make hotel and other reservations for the group and the last trip featured a drunk bus driver.

Any recommendations for tour companies you've have a great experience with? Thanks.

I have not been able to actually go on one of these and I've always wanted to, BUT how about a Rick Steves trip? If the trip is as it is billed, then it should be perfect for what you describe - in fact they encourage intergenerational travelers. I'm always a little leery of something that gets as much publicity as Rick Steves, though, maybe too mainstrem to be fun? Perhaps someone will post that has taken one.
