Recommender ferpa checkbox for ED?

My son assigned a GC and recommenders on common app. All schools show that box with s check except the one he currently has set for ED. He says that is why…

Is this right? I’d hate for his earliest one to fail. All of the EAs show a check in that box.

Has he “assigned” the teachers to his ED college. He has to do that manually .
