hello,

i was wondering if anyone knows what this record amount of apps is going to do for transferring in, i got into pratt last year but had to go to university of chicago because of my parents, i’m in the hardest courseload in physics math and chemistry right now and doing well, i had alot of intel awards in high school plus i already got in, i did research last summer at brookhaven labs in high energy physics. do you think they will hate on my for turning them down once and also the effect of these record numbers.

thanks alot,

I wouldn’t worry about a grudge. Getting in once before probably works in your favor. And you’re applying for class of '09 so I don’t think you need worry about this year’s record apps. The bad news: Last year’s overenrollment. I don’t know how many replacement slots Duke is looking to fill, but I think transfer admissions is going to be small and super select. Best of luck. I hope it works out for you.

Eh, it’ll be tough. Duke is much more selective for transfers and only admitted 16-20 last year. They’ll probably admit the same or fewer this year. I don’t think turning Duke down will hurt you, and being admitted as a freshman may actually help, although I don’t know for sure.
