Recovering From Mono, but can't sleep (help)

I’ve had mono over the last 2 months, I can say I’ve come a long way. Many of the mono symptoms are now gone, except a little fatigue. However now I’m having diffculty sleeping.
I can usually fall asleep fine, but will wake up within an hour or two, then when I go back to sleep I feel like I’m half asleep the rest of the night. I remember every single one of my dreams, which tells me that I’m not sleeping very deeply. Usually I’ll have a night that I’ll get 8-10 hours followed by 2-3 nights where I only seem to get a few hours of sleep.
Has anyone had experience like this when recovering from a virus like mono? Or has a child that went through something similar? What could be the cause?

Your red cells aren’t yet charged up, but you sound like you now need to get into a better sleep/wake routine. (I am NOT a doctor, just a mom of a kid who has had sleep issues). Sleep cycle means: try to have a full(er) day so you’re tired at night. Don’t try to sleep/nap on-and-off all day. In the morning, get up at X hour, have a morning routine (shower, breakfast, etc), be sure to get dressed, don’t go back to your bed until it’s time to sleep/nap. (i.e. don’t sit on your bed, sit at a desk). Take a nap, but don’t overdo it. 1-1/1/2 hours is sufficient. Also, don’t drink coffee or soda, or take your nap too close to bedtime.

Your on-again/off-again routine is disrupted and now you have to reschedule your bio-clock. But, don’t over do it either. Take it slow, even if you’re not in the sleep mode.
