Recruiting Profile Mistake

I just filled out an athletic recruiting questionnaire for Dartmouth College and, after submitting it, I realized that I spelt a word wrong (namely, “breastroke” in place of “breaststroke”). I went back to fill out the online form again (and did so, with the correct spelling), but I was unable to unsubmit the first one with the slight mistake. Will this affect admissions to the college as a whole? I’m hoping that this spelling mistake on an athletic recruiting questionnaire will not affect my admissions to Dartmouth as a whole- I plan to apply Early Decision. I understand this is probably unreasonable, paranoid, and a trivial mistake, but what does everyone think?

They probably won’t notice. It took me two reads to figure out what you did wrong.

Would admissions even use a 5 minute recruiting profile submitted as a source of information for application to the school in general?

If you swim fast enough they will not care how you spell it. Are your academic stats in the recruitable range?

Bump

Yes my academics are better than my athletics- I am more concerned with whether or not this mistake will affect admission to the college as a whole. I will most likely not be sought after for a recruitment, I only filled out the questionnaire to give my name to the program. What are your thoughts on this mistake affecting admission to the college under the assumption that I am not sought after for recruitment (which will most likely be the case), @riverrunner ?

I am not concerned with its effect on recruitment, but rather its effect on the normal academic application and admission process.

Maybe the coach cant spell either. Honestly, I don’t think they will notice.

I am more concerned about whether the regular admissions office will see this mistake and possibly begin to favor my rejection (again, this situation is assuming that I am not going to be recruited, I am simply concerned about whether the filling out of the questionnaire with this mistaje

The only thing they’ll care about is how fast u can swim it.

But will admissions care? Its effect on recruitment (of which there is little to no possibility) is not a concern. The real worry to me is whether such a misspelling on an informal form will come to the attention of admissions and be used as a reason not to accept me to the school at all.

Bump not sure if you guys can offer anything in terms of how this mistake would affect regular admissions

Admissions does not see athletic recruiting questionnaires. They are simply a screening tool for the coach to use to look at possible recruits. Don’t rely on the questionnaire for contact with the coach as there are some coaches who don’t really look at them much. Follow up with an email to the coach and appropriate assistant coaches introducing yourself including event times and academic stats.

Even if admission sees it, I do t think it’s a big deal. People makes mistakes. You are worrying about nothing. Unless they receive an essay full of spelling error then that’s a problem, but typos happen.
