ReduceSeatTime/Mixed Mode Class?

Can someone please explain this to me? It sounds like you do some work in class and some online but im not sure.
The reason I’m asking is because at orientation I signed up for a class that was a night class that ends around 9 and im trying to get it switched since I am living off campus and dont really want to be ending at that time. The only other class that I can take is one of these ReduceSeatTime/Mixed Mode classes and that would actually fit perfectly into my schedule.
The only problem im having is that I remember them saying that they dont recommend freshmen take online courses because they get lazy and miss work or something because they aren’t used to college yet which makes sense but I was just trying to see what this class is all about and what you guys think I should do. Any one have any experience with these classes and think I should switch?

I remember them telling us not to take the ASC (at student’s convenience) classes that are all filmed and then played online.

I’d say e-mail your advisor to learn exactly what mixed mode means, because I’m pretty sure it’s different (at least somewhat) than a ASC.

I would not listen to first year advising. They are not very helpful and only really care about you getting your Gen-eds done. Reduced seat time just means that you might go to class once a week, and the rest is done online. I think that it is just as easy as a regular class as long as you can manage your time and be ready to do some work at home. It is more about if you are an organized person.

A lot of freshmen will sign up for classes you have to go to and just skip them so you might be more motivated to do your work in your room than go to class and listen to a professor.
