can anyone explain this phenomenon to me?
it’s fascinating!

Maybe you saw this, but for others:

But do students really have dogs? Really really? I’m not a dog person but that still seems pretty neet.

Really. Our daughter’s roommate’s Rottweiler Dakota goes to campus regularly. There are lots of dogs.

Isn’t there a cat dorm as well?

hey, yea, lots of students have dogs and it’s really nice to see them play.
yea, there was a cat dorm - Foster - the dorm I used to be in, but not anymore

Cat dorm sounds cool, but I can’t imagine my cat being happy about changing homes again, traveling by plane across the entire country, and living with a bunch of college students… I’d still miss him, though :-P

When my son visited Reed, his overnight host in the dorm had a Golden Retriever living with him. The dog wasn’t an “official” resident, but the host told my son that no one really minded. And, when my son interviewed, his admissions interviewer had her dog sit in on the interview. A lot of the faculty bring their dogs to work with them so it is not unusual to find a dog wandering down the hallway of classroom/office buildings - there’s even a water fountain on campus just for dogs. My son loves Reed’s dogs, but I could see how someone who isn’t an animal lover might be less impressed. :)

Ha ha, I’ve never been an animal person - my family has never had any pets. If Reed was on my list, this would warrant immediate removal!

when we toured the told us the dogs were the reincarnation of Reed Alumni who had passed on!!!

It’s true. See the link in post #2.
