I heard a kitchen designer once who said “nothing good is happening in the back 6 inches of your refrigerator”.
I was somewhat concerned about capacity when we switched from a regular depth side by side fridge (which I always hated) but have found that the design is so much more efficient in the counter depth one we have that there is no problem whatsoever… I also found that the bins in the door are much bigger than in the old fridge so we keep all condiments, salad dressings, pickles etc in the doors which also makes them much harder to forget about.
