Regarding NYU poly.

On the collegeboard website, it indicated that people’s SAT score for the critical reading were all above 500s. Does that mean that all applicants with critical reading score of below 500 were rejected?

Not necessarily. Poly does put a lot more weight on your Math score than Reading Score. However, anything below a 500 on Critical Reading will severely hurt their chances of being accepted, especially considering how much more selective Poly has gotten with the influx of applications coming in, now that it’s in the fourth year of its gradual transition into NYU. Even before NYU, Poly would not accept people below a 500 in Critical Reading that often. The SAT average of the new incoming class this year is 1315, with many people getting around 700 on Math and around 600 on Reading, just to give you some perspective.

So if i can’t get my critical reading score above a 500, do you suggest applying for HEOP? or is that still the same?

Yes, I would suggest applying through the HEOP program at NYU-Poly.

My math score is pretty high though like in the 600s and my GPA is a bit above 3.5… I’m still qualified for HEOP right? I need to make sure before i apply.
