S is filling out FSFA and they ask about registering for selective service. He is still 17 (not turned 18) can he say “Register me now” or does he say no and register when he turns 18

You can provide the registration information to SSS if he is 17 yrs 3 months or older.

I would assume the same is true you check “register me now” on the FAFSA.
Or could provide registration information at the link above and indicate you have already registered on the FAFSA.

Thanks, I had this question as well.

Go ahead and check “please register me” which moves you down the happy Fafsa trail. The Selective Service will send you a postcard that says “thanks for trying to register but you are only 17. Please register when you are 18.” At least that’s what has happened to us.
