Hi, everyone,

Now that selection is done, several colleges have announced spring travel programs in which admission officers will go to regional information sessions at cities around the country. Harvard’s programs are listed on the Harvard Web site

http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/utilities/travel_schedule/index.cgi</a>

and most of those programs are joint programs offered by the Exploring College Options consortium

of Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and now Stanford.

MIT is part of a different joint travel program, announced on its Web site

with Brown, Princeton, Swarthmore, Wellesley, and Yale.

I look forward to attending the Exploring College Options program in my town and hope I’ll see you there. I’d be delighted to read your comments about one of those regional information sessions here on CC after you attend the session(s) in your town.

As a follow-up question, I wonder if any of you know of other regional college information sessions happening this spring. Does your favorite college have spring travel to reach out to prospective students?

Several years ago, Bowdoin, Carleton, Pomona and Swarthmore traveled together. Before that, Carleton wasn’t on her radar - now look where she’s attending!

(As a funny aside, they scheduled their presentation in Houston on the same night as Harvard, Penn, Georgetown, Duke and there were several people going back and forth)

I hope the locations weren’t too far apart. This year’s Exploring College Options presentation in my town is at a hotel used by other colleges last year and the year before, on different dates.
