<p>son received a schedule from advisor for spring 2011 classes. He also received an email telling him about the time tickets etc. If he looks on his schedule through his portal it says he is <strong>registered</strong> on October 27, 2010 for all his classes. Some of the classes list 3 instructors but the times/days are the same for all the classes. So the question is - does he need to still register? He thinks he is already registerd for classes and he is not quesitoning it but i am. He is in the college of engineering and I know of another kid who just registered. Does he have to go online and physically request the teachers?</p>
<p>Usually specific programs such as your son’s pre-register their students for a lot of the classes they will most likely take the next semester in order to keep on track with the requirements before graduation. However, they do not take into account any classes your son may have AP/IB-ed out of. For example, if your son AP-ed out of Chemistry, they don’t look at this and will still register him for Chemistry next semester simply because that’s what most engineering freshmen take. Your son should check for these classes if they apply, and also he should add some electives if he wants because they don’t do that for you either.</p>
<p>Sounds like he was registered automatically, which is pretty common for engineering unless they have an elective slot. If the classes show up on his spring 2011 schedule on myneu, he’s registered for them, but he could also double check by looking at Degree Audit (self-service, myneu)</p>
<p>Also, the three teacher thing is pretty standard in science/engineering. He’ll only have one actual professor, but sometimes they include the lab director or head of department in the course listing (I’ve seen it for my physics and chem courses).</p>
