Hi guys, fellow incoming students and current students

I’m entering UW this fall quarter as a freshmen with a status of “pre-science”. I am hoping to become a premed majoring in Biochemistry or Chemistry. I have a good background knowledge on Chemistry and believe I am pretty steady in the math area.

I will be registering for classes during my A&O session, however, I do not have any experiences or understanding whatsoever on how to make the most out of the classes that I’m scheduling. I don’t want to schedule for course not knowing what it is like. My biggest fear is scheduling for courses that I might not be able to handle during the first quarter, therefore, killing my gpa, ruining my chance of getting into my desired major, and then not getting into med school. ect… Some people say not to take any heavy science courses like Chemistry and Calculus at one time, whereas some people say I should work on getting rid of all my general ed requirements.
I’m pretty grounded in my studies, I try my best at everything I do, I don’t slack off, and I’m pretty much on top of everything. However, highschool is one thing, university is a whole new level.

For all of those experienced people out there who’ve had successes or failures with their freshmen year courses, please share with us newbies your experiences, what you regret, what you learned, and what you wished you would have done differently. Please also share with us what the courses you took are like, the class sizes ect.

I will be eternally grateful for all your heedful guidance. :D
