Registering for classes after orientation

So I have a problem… I’m not compliant for FSU’s mandatory health insurance policy because I don’t have health insurance right now. I am going to orientation on Tuesday, but won’t be able to register for classes because of this whole health insurance thing. We just had to reapply for Medicaid, but I won’t find out if I received it until sometime in July. My question is, can I register online for my classes after orientation? Someone already told me I could, I just want more details.

You could sign up for the FSU insurance, and then cancel it after your orientation. I believe you can cancel it within 30 days, and you don’t have to pay for it until August 22?

I believe once you are finish with Orientation, you can register up to July 29th, before the window closes before you have to wait until drop/add.

Yep, you can register again from July 11 to 29, as long as you’ve gone through Orientation by then.

The main reason for this is that FSU likely will have gotten your test scores from AP or IB exams, and you might get a surprise in there (passing a test you thought you bombed, failing one you thought you aced, etc), allowing you to skip a class you’re registered for or requiring that you register for a class you felt you would get test credit for.

It’s so you aren’t left scrambling to find classes during Drop/Add.

do what mastuhdang said. thats a good idea!

Consider signing up for the FSU insurance. As has been said, you do not have to pay for it until the term starts in August, and you can cancel it if you get on Medicaid. If you cancel it after orientation, but do not get Medicaid, they will cancel your enrollment by the end of drop add, so don’t take that chance.

And yes, the registration window is open for about 3 weeks in July for everyone, incoming freshman to rising seniors–as long as you have paid what is due, have your immunization records, your health insurance etc.
