Registering for Classes-HELP!

I want to major in ECE but have trouble registering for classes :(

In freshman year, we need to take two Intro to Eng. courses, I’ve read, but does that mean we take one Intro to Engineering course each semester?

(For example, Intro to ECE for the fall and Intro to Mech. E for the Spring?)

Thanks!

Also, it says we have to take min. 36 units/ max 47 units. Is that the no of units you can take per semester or per year?

that is units per semester, and the (max) number varies from college to college.

have you heard from your advisor? check your e-mail (the [yourID]@andrew.cmu.edu one)… i’m sure they’ve sent you stuff explaining everything you need to know at this point

Thanks! Does that mean we need at least 288 units to graduate(36x2x4)? My advisor has sent me stuff but I’m hopelessly lost and ignorant of what’s going on that I thought I might ask for help here :(

So all the courses we apply for last one semester (this Fall) only, and we have to re-apply to take different courses for the Spring, right?

Units required for graduation is 360. Follow the link for more information.

does anyone know how long math placement test results take? I’ve ben waiting a week for my placement so I can’t register for classes yet.

My advisor hasnt sent me anything except some sort of date change. I sent a schedule for review, a few days ago, and didnt even hear back…

I think they said the results of the math placement exams would be up around July 13th? My son called and it sounded like they really weren’t going to look at the submitted class schedules much until they knew the math placement results.

^ Thanks for the help.

Thanks for all the replies guys: one more question though—Physics I and II are a graduation requirement, they say…so if we have AP credit for Physics does that mean we don’t have to take them? or do we have to take them regardless??

Thanks again!

each school has their own AP placement policies. do a google search for whatever one you are in (CIT for ECE?). I am in SCS and 5’s (and only 5’s) on Physics C Mechanics and Physics C E&M were sufficient for me to get credit

ok thanks!

If you have AP credit (I think it’s a 5 on each physics c test), then you do not have to take physics at CMU.
Take 1 engineering intro each semester

Yeah, you get credit for each section you get a 5 on. I managed a 5 on E&M but somehow got a 4 on Newtonian, so I had to take Physics I, but not Physics II.
