What is the deadline for doing this, and uh…well, do we just go on Minerva and pick them ourselves?

I know that there are certain requirements and such for what you pick, but I just want to verify how and when we are supposed to do it.

I think registration starts on August 2nd (I don’t remember if it’s the 2nd or 4th), and yep, you pretty much just go on minerva and pick what you want (following the freshman requirements). I believe they should let us know soon who our adviser will be and you can email them w/ questions, but i heard they’re pretty useless.

Yes, advisers are totally useless. My d’s never responded the whole year, except one time to send a canned and irrelevant answer. If your adviser is a help, you will be the first.

One tip on registering for year zero classes–everyone will try to get on Minerva at the exact same time at 8:00 am and you will be unable to access Minerva. My d. got up early and logged into Minerva about 30 minutes before the registration time. She couldn’t access the “registration” button till 8 am, but at least was already in Minerva. (She had to keep doing stuff every few minutes to keep from being booted out.) At 8 am the link became active and she could register at that time and got all her classes. BTW, you register for both semesters in August.

what i’ve figured out about advising. if you know what you want to major in, and your question has to do with that major, email an advisor from that department (not a freshman advisor). the two I emailed were incredibly helpful
