Registering for Classes

I know that we register for classes at our NSC, but mine is not until August. I’m afraid a lot of the classes I want will be filled up. Is there any way we can sign up online?

And what about foreign language placement tests? Is there a way to take those before classes start?

Foreign placement tests are administered on the 1st day of your NSC.

As far as your classes are concerned, some will be filled up by August. Your TAMU account isn’t fully activated before your NSC, so you will have to wait until then to sign up.

Yeah, it really stinks to get late NSC’s. What is your major? If you have a strict degree plan like engineers do, they will force you into what you need. This is more unlikely if you are LBAR, but still possible. It all depends on finding a really nice advisor. :-)

My major is English, but I plan on taking a lot of psychology classes. All of my desired English classes are filling up.

I was going to take Introductory Biology, but only the AM classes are available. And I hear Johnson isn’t too exciting, so that’s a bust.

They may say they are full, but they may have spots open. Your academic advisor can probably fit you in there. You can take the foreign language placement tests anytime before school starts.

The only Psyc classes you can take are Psyc 107 (Intro), 203 (Statistics for Psychology), and 204 (Experimental Psychology). The other ones you’ll have to have these prereqs or junior status. Do you have an AP credits? If you aren’t planning on being a psyc major, it would be silly to take any of these classes but 107. You might be able to be forced into ENGL 104, and I think they open up a new section of it every NSC.

my nsc is in august too and i jsut recieved an email saying that my sched has already been picked out for me -.-

My NSC is late July…I was starting to get really worried but then someone told me that they try to open up new seats at every NSC; this probably isn’t true for all classes, but hopefully they do it to some extent :/

We learned from S2 recent registration experience. Hopefully it helps all of you. For S2 Friday everything was close, by Sat many sessions open again. On Monday, there are even more sessions. Perhaps, that is why the professor email back and forth with him so quickly to get it done. Good luck!

 1. DO NOT assume the advisor taking care of you in NSC is your final advisor. ASK! When you have to contact for help in registration, contact him or her via their direct email or phone. Don’t use the general department email.
 2. It appears the NSC is schedule from Tu-W or Th-F. W and F is the day you register. New sessions do open up right before NSC, but it fill up faster then you can imagine. Therefore, don’t be too picky on your hours. Just get in the class.
 3. Visit your department web site ahead of your NSC conference of recommended classes and electives category and credit needed. For Engr most likely you will get into the core cluster but not others. Therefore have a back up of electives.
 4. Check out all your eligible AP transfer credit based on your score (last table of the booklet) from <a href=“Honors - LAUNCH”>Honors - LAUNCH;
 5. It appears session open the day before registration. Therefore, if you need help to get into classes, contact you advisor immediately and keep checking. To find out open session go to [Texas A & M University - courses.tamu.edu (C)](http://courses.tamu.edu). If you are Honor, click on Honor to find session. 6) Once you registered, as a freshman your sessions is closed until Aug 21. Therefore only your advisor can help you to make any changes. You cannot do it yourself.

So many web sites where to you begin? We figure out together with S2. Here are the basic

Oh crap - I forgot to register for a placement test. Somebody mentioned that these take place on the first day of our NSC…and mine is tomorrow. Any other options?

What kind of placement? I think you can do the math online. Otherwise, try and schedule it today. If not, ask when you get there. I think it was just come and go…

For foreign language testing you have to call to make an appointment for the 2 hour test and pay $50.

^ or I think you can just take a placement test for foreign language and not pay the $50. Paying the $50 and passing gives you a college credit though.

If I want to add a class to my schedule, is there any way to do that before classes begin (Aug. 25)? I already chose my courses for next semester, but I want to add another one.
