Registering for Classes

Ok… I don’t know if I’m just ■■■■■■■■ or what, but I don’t know when or how to register for classes. I’ve already enrolled in my classes, but I haven’t actually registered. Can somebody give me some info on that?

How did you enroll in classes? When you check online does it show that you are signed up for them? With a schedule? If so, I would guess you have registered.

To enroll, you go on the student portal at my.ucsc.edu. Login. Click on the “My Student Center” link on the left hand side of the page. Now it should take you to a page with three sections labeled “Academics”, “Finances”, and “Personal Information”. In the “Academics” section, there is a scroll-down menu labeled “more links” with a “go” button immediately to the right. Click on the scroll-down menu and then click “Enrollment Add”. Press the “Go” button the the right. To add a class, type in the class number (class numbers can be found online or in the “2008 Schedule of Classes”), or you can search for classes manually. Follow the steps and thats how you enroll.

The thing I’m having trouble with is I can’t figure out how to actually register for the classes I’ve enrolled in. Registering involves paying for the classes while enrolling simply reserves a spot for you in your desired class. I just don’t know where or how to register. Is there a deadline?

I wondered the same thing. According to the UCSC web site, you should recieve a bill shortly after August 28th for the fall term. The due date listed is September 17th.

http://sbs.ucsc.edu/acrobat/billsched.pdf

Has a contact number/email listed at the bottom.

In the finance section of the portal, you probably still have an “Amount Due” of $0 until the end of August, where you’ll then owe for the fall term.

PS… This is unusual, as my other 2 kids at Cal State have to pay within a month of signing up for classes. I guess UC has more cash and don’t need the float.
