Hey guys, I’ve been accepted to the Fall semester for some time now and I would like to know HOW and especially HOW EARLY I can register for my classes without waiting to register at the Summer Sessions in June. Thanks! =D

You can’t register before Summer Session. The earlier the Summer Session the better, but that is it. If you plan to take courses that might be contain more than just Freshman, you might be out of luck on the timings because all the good times might get taken by upperclassmen.

oh okay. most of my classes will be freshman ones with the exception of calculus (deciding between calc II or III). is there an online site where I can register when it opens?

Thanks foxshox!

Your only allowed to register when your at Orientation, they recommend you to go to the FAC when you are at orientation to register, but you can register via the registrar.utexas.edu. There is no way around their restrictions, sorry. Either way, you should be fine. Not sure which Calculus classes you are talking about when you say II or III. There are 2 routes: Calculus C and D, or Calculus K,L, and M. If you have credit for BC, then take M , if you have credit for only AB then you have to either take D or L and M.

my bad, I’ll most likely have credit for calc BC by end of senior year so I’ll probably take M like you said, but I’m not sure how the letters work. are K,L, and M all taught in one year or something?

No, K,L,M is the 3 semester route. C and D is the more accelerated 2 Semester route. It really doesn’t matter if you take M or D if you have credit for BC, but M moves slower. I got an easy teacher for D(not knowing I could have taken M with credit for BC), so I guess it depends on what teacher you get.

How long do you think It’ll be before all the orientation spots are filled? I want to wait to see what session I want to go to first

according to this: [Common Transfer Credit Issues - Calculus Courses](http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/ate/problems/calculus.html) , M is the same as D, but how come M doesn’t cover sequences and series?

M is not the same as D. D is basically M with Sequences and Series. So they teach it a little faster. M goes a lot slower from what I have heard, although all these classes move faster than high school without a doubt.

haha well i suppose the question to ask is whether sequences and series are important regarding my major (biomedical engineering). you don’t happen to know do you? My calc bc class haven’t covered sequences nor series so I never worked with them, but if you don’t know, I can just find out later on :P

Probably won’t see the calculus stuff in any class again. You might have to deal with summations and such, but beyond that, I have yet to use them as a second semester sophomore in EE which is very close to BME(ie there are some shared classes between the two). If you learn them decently in BC, you should be OK. My teacher was great for BC, so even if my teacher for D wasn’t easy as balls, I still would have done well on that test.

ooh gotcha. wow, i appreciate your help, foxshox thanks again!
