registering for ECON 101A

I’m a new transfer admit who’s been planning my curriculum to take the econ 101A/101B/141 series, as I am interested in econ grad school. Currently econ 101A has only 7/60 seats open, with 20 on the waiting list and registration only open to new admits or people with permission of the instructor. I assume the spots for new admits is basically for transfers since the class is only open to sophomores and above.

The problem is that I have the 4th CalSO date because all the other ones are either full or are during my finals. Will there be a certain number of slots allotted for each CalSO, or will the class probably fill up by the time mine comes around? I really need to get into this class because I have to take 100A, 100B, or 101A my first semester at Cal to get into the economics major, and 100A/100B aren’t congruent with my academic plans.

You might consider contacting the professor directly, explaining your situation and your academic preparation for the course. That might help you later get off the waitlist if that is what it comes to. Just an idea.

Note: I don’t know anything about how courses like that are handled in the economics department. I am just speculating about a possible strategy.
