Registering for Spring Classes

When is the time when students are able to register for spring classes, so that I will be able to get into the classes that I need for my major before they get full? And also, is fourteen credit hours too little for an incoming freshman?

Registration for Spring classes occurs usually in late November/early December I believe. The time that you will be allowed to register is based on how many credits you have, so people with sophomore, junior, and senior status will be able to register before you, along with freshmen who have more credits than you.

thanks for the information! Oh, and I have another question: how good of a chance would I have of being put into a class where I am the second person on the waitlist? I feel like this might be an obvious question, but then again, I am an incoming freshman and am not familiar with how the classes and scheduling totally work.

It depends on the class. If it’s a large lecture class with 100+ students, there are definitely going to be people who drop before/during the first week and you’ll easily be able to obtain a spot. If it’s a smaller class I’d say at number 2 on the wait list you still have a REALLY good chance of getting in. I’ve been on the wait list for both large and small classes and have never had trouble getting into the class.
