registering to vote

how does that work…d just turned 18, and we live in california and she will be in school in nyc

I am assuming she will be registered in California, and will need to do absentee ballot

Do we use our address and forward it to her, or should she do college address (which we don’t have yet)

I would think our home address and then we can mail it to her…

Would do others do…

Daughter is a Californian as well, and registered there, going to school in the east. I send her the absentee ballot application when it comes, and she has plenty of time to fill it out and get her absentee ballot.

Beware - she will likey get called for jury duty! My daughter will be on call the second week she is home this summer. She postponed it once, but had to state a time she could serve.
She would rather serve when she is on vacation in Caifornia, (which is a good reason for voting absentee) than when she is in school. Transportation and scheduling would be a nightmare during classes.

thanks!!! egad, forgot about jury duty…ah well, such is our civic duty

In california, you can request a permanent absentee ballot, which means they automatically send you an ballot as long as you vote in like…at least every other election or something…i forget :)

It may be possible to request an absentee ballot online, or so my son tells me. But we live in Maryland, not California.

I’m a resident of Pennsylvania, but attend school in Massachusetts. I’m registered to vote in PA, but before each election I go to my county’s web site and print out an absentee ballot request form. I then have the absentee ballot sent to me in Massachusetts. In my area, I can’t request a ballot online, and I have to repeat the process for each election.
