Congrats to your daughter! I also just got into the B.arch program out of state and I’m thrilled!
My son was accepted into VPA in music composition (about 3.7UW/4.1W; 1340 SAT) with $10K Dean’s scholarship.
Financial aid also had a $45K grant. Certainly a high number, but the VPA tuition and fees with program fees is about $60K (!), and room and board is $16.4K (which is kind of ridiculous, as Syracuse is not exactly Manhattan). This leaves our cost about $7K higher than the Net Price Calculator had said. I had expected maybe $4K higher, as the NPC number had seemed too good. Which makes the cost a few thousand more than hoped for. We’ll see! He really likes the music school a lot, but he will have to consider all his possibilities.
My letter said the financial aid office will contact me directly with info for my aid? Anyone else have this? I haven’t received any other email from their offices.
D accepted Whitman Finance. This was her first choice by far, but her FA award is way less than the Net Price Calculator showed (by like $13K). If we can’t get more aid, she won’t be going. Sad since I wouldn’t even have let her apply if I knew the award would be so much less than what they estimated. She was so excited last night and I had to let her know we might not be able to afford it. She was crushed.
@CindyLeuWho Have you gone on MySlice and looked in the Financial Aid part for any letters? It could be it’s there but you didn’t get an email about it for some reason. If it’s not there, financial aid info probably hasn’t been made available to you yet.
@Yocco2 Sorry to hear that! Syracuse is probably my son’s first choice, but he knows he has to consider various options and is happy Syracuse is one of them.
The downside of a school like Syracuse that doesn’t promise to meet full need is that even if you can show they haven’t met full need they don’t have to do it. On the other hand, if a school is a clear first choice like this is your daughter’s, she might be able to say that if the cost were down to this much she would definitely go, which maybe would help.
@Wilson98 She has other very good (some even better) options, all at around the same cost to us, both per actual awards and NPC’s. However, she was smitten by Syracuse, which I was totally fine with since it seemed like a great fit, assuming that it was still in the same ballpark as the other schools. Since the NPC’s we had done for the other schools were all coming in within +/- $2K or so of actual, we assumed 'Cuse’s would be as well. However, the $13K+ difference for 'Cuse is way out of whack and frankly, a deal-breaker. If we were talking a top-tier school, maybe it might be worth the extra $$, but it would be hard to justify an extra $52K+ for 'Cuse with her other less expensive options. Again, if the NPC would have been somewhat accurate and shown this up front, we would have eliminated 'Cuse long ago, before D invested so much time into it and got her hopes up.
Really frustrating with all the anxiety floating around out there right now that we need to deal with this, too. I’ll need to talk to the them, but not very optimistic that they could close the gap enough to make it a viable option. Not sure which is worse - getting denied outright or getting accepted and finding out you can’t afford it.
Congrats to all those accepted and hope you don’t run into the same issue.
When do we think the next wave of decisions will come?

Are we the only ones still waiting???
I’m still waiting on my decision.
It looks like are were some additional expenses in the cost of attendance. Just be sure you are comparing “apples to apples” with other schools. Personally, I look at tuition, room and board when comparing. I don’t include books, personal expenses, transportation, etc as those amounts will vary. That said, it’s still a BIG number!
Hello everyone. My S20 was admitted to 'Cuse but NOT for Newhouse or even his second choice, VPA. He was admitted to CAS. Is there anyone at the school you would recommend he speak to who would be able to really tell him if he can meet his curriculum goals and graduate in 4 years?
If you still really want to go to Syracuse, you can send off an email to admissions appealing your given major. you will probably find out some time in April. If that does not work, Syracuse is really good when in comes to in school transfers.
Thank you for this idea!
I’m still waiting for the decision as a first year transfer student. Since I submit everything before Jan.1st I think it will come out several days later.
I’m international student too, Would you mind share your statistics?

i think its rolling, because people from my school heard back but I didn’t
i am confused, because syracuse tweeted on march 12th welcoming the incoming class, but i didn’t receive anything regarding my application via email. should i be worried that i haven’t gotten a decision yet?
