Regular Decision Good Luck Thread

@Unidreaming29740‌ did u apply ED for syracuse? or RD?

@KingOfTheClouds College acceptance is a big deal and you should be proud of your accomplishments! My kid didn’t apply to Harvard either.

@mtbd1996 rolling :slight_smile:

@Unidreaming29740‌ and you heard back already!!! so lucky… congrats btw! What program? And if you are okay with sharing what were your stats?

@mtbd1996 Everyone in my school has heard back already. But I’m international, so that may explain it. Thank you!
The communication program

U.W. GPA:
freshman & sophomore year: 3.8
junior & senior year: 3.75
Doing IB in junior & senior year (its like 7 AP classes) so my weighted should be a lot higher, but I don’t know what it is. The rigour of my classes is really tough.

AP’s (taken in sophomore year):
German: 5
Spanish: 5
Human Geography: 5

28 ACT

I think my strengths are definitely my essays, extracurriculars and my letters of recommendation. My weakness is definitely my ACT score though.

This is awesome!

Why does everyone apply to Stanford? It’s kind of ridiculous. It seems like everyone who budgets one dream/high-reach college into their list of colleges to apply to chooses Stanford. More often than HYPM etc. And then all the kids who apply to several Ivies also apply to Stanford.

The anxiety is starting to get so real I’m worried I didn’t apply to enough schools! It’s going to be a LONG month lol.

And @Frazzled503‌, as someone whose dream school is Stanford, I think I can say that it’s everything about Stanford. The weather, the CA “mystique” (especially for east coast kids), the prestige, the proximity to Silicon Valley, the fantastic academic programs across the board, the drop dead gorgeous campus. I think more and more people on CC are subscribing to the Wayne Gretzky philosophy - “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”

Ivyhopes12 -
We have the opposite situation.

S was accepted to MIT EA and is waiting on Princeton, Duke, JHU, Harvard, RIce and WashU(already written off)
thinks Princeton will be a reject since interview didn’t go so good, Interviewer was not a science major and they didn’t communicate so well.

bordertexan, FWIW the Pton interview means very little in terms of admission, it’s more for the applicant to get an insight into the university. Don’t get down about a poor interview, it doesn’t hurt too bad.

ivyhopes12 - thanks for that. S didn’t think he clicked with interviewer. Plus, Princeton was the only school he hadn’t visited personally. She asked him where else he applied and which schools he visited.

Accepted to:
CSUN (local safety)
UAlabama (full tuition scholarship)
